Macrodata Refinement - Severance
Welcome to the Lumon Family
Congratulations on your new job!
All of us are thrilled that you've become a part of Lumon Industries.
From the humble beginnings of a small topical salve company to the world’s leading pioneer in biotechnologies, Lumon has thrived thanks to workers like you.
Happy Refining, and of course, Praise Kier!
Objective
After opening your file, you will be met with a sea of numbers that seems to stretch endlessly in all directions. Move the magnifying glass around the data field, and watch as the numbers enlarge as it passes over them. You can zoom further using the PLUS and MINUS KEYS.
Next, use the ARROW KEYS to move left, right, up, and down within the data field, This will reveal more numbers. Over time, certain clusters of numbers will start to make you feel a certain way.
There are four categories of numbers, each of which elicits a different feeling. A refiner's job is to fill each of five bins evenly with the four kinds of numbers:
-
WO numbers: Elicit melancholy or despair;
-
FC numbers: Elicit joy, gaiety, and ecstasy;
-
DR numbers: Elicit fear, anxiety, or apprehension;
-
MA numbers: Elicit rage or a desire to do harm.
When you are ready, try highlighting a group of numbers by clicking and dragging around the perimeter of the bad data. Then, use the CURSOR or KEYS 1-5 to select the bin into which you wish to drop the numbers.
Once the bin has been selected, watch as the highlighted data set flies down into the open bin. You have just refined your first set of numbers!

The work is important
i havent been able to get genuinely any DR and MA? Why do you think that is? I've tried various strategies and yet i get 100% before i can even out the amounts of the numbers
I've designed this up so that DR and MA are more rare and tricker to work out than the other ones. I'd recommend doing smaller bins of 4-5 numbers at a time to see if you can accidentally find it and work out the pattern.
Really light spoiler incoming: If you've worked out how to reliably get FC you're on the way to working out one of the ways to get DR (each type of scary number has 2 triggers). Consider the meaning of FR in the show vs the way you find it in the game. How does the emotion behind FC look different to DR irl.
WO! My DR said I shouldn't FC with MA too much.
I have no idea what I'm doing and I love it
Clicking on the Lumon logo in the upper-right takes me to “Quarterly Results,” with three blank spaces. I can click to make sounds, but the game doesn’t otherwise respond. Because this is supposed to simulate an engimatic experience I don’t know if this is intentional or a sign something is broken.
Its broken! When this was more popular there were leaderboards anf clicking the logo was a quick way to check them. Ive been disconnected from the database due to low useage. Ill hook it back up over the weekend.
The game is Mysterious and Important
Is there any chance that the code for this can be published to GitHub? I am curious how it works.
Hello! I'm happy to share specific parts of the code either on stream or within my Discord if you have any specific interest in some sections of the code. Otherwise, I'm in the middle of working on a YouTube video about the process of making this, which will include some big picture details :))
I'm reluctant to post the full source code to GitHub as revealing how the numbers are scored would ruin parts of the game.
Amazing, this looks great! love the sfx!
GREAT GAME! I would love to add your game to Portmaster
( https://portmaster.games )
if you'd consider letting us include the games PCK file in the PortMaster download package, we could make the game available to play there too! Let me know & Ill give you my email!
Hey! I don't fully own the rights to this. All content is heavily inspired by Apple IP and the game is pretty much fan art haha
Well, PortMaster does not have a financial incentive for either party in any way. So you'd basically just be allowing people to have the game downloaded onto their Linux Handhelds by including the pck in the package. Look Into PortMaster, feel free to check the Discord, and shoot me the godot PCK if it's something you'd wanna do! We have TONS of fan games in our Library. We're nearing 1,000 total games! unusual.paladin@gmail.com

Very cool implementation, nice job! (where is my Chinese finger trap?)
Funding for finger traps has been temporarily diverted to the Choreography and Merriment department! Expect to receive your finger trap by the end of next quarter.
